There’s nothing quite like a homemade burger—especially when it’s packed with crispy, smoky bacon bits in every single bite. That’s the magic behind Mama K’s Flavor-Packed Bacon Bomb Burgers: a juicy, flavorful twist on the classic that’s been a staple in my family for years.

This recipe was born from the simple idea that bacon shouldn’t just sit on top of a burger—it should be one with the burger. By mixing chopped bacon bits right into the seasoned ground beef, you get deep, savory flavor throughout the entire patty. It’s bold, satisfying, and just a little bit indulgent—everything a great burger should be.

These burgers are perfect for weekend cookouts, casual dinners, or anytime you’re craving comfort food with a kick. You don’t need a ton of fancy ingredients—just quality beef, good bacon, and a few pantry staples. The result? A burger that’s juicy, flavorful, and guaranteed to get people asking for seconds.

Why I Love These Burgers

I don’t know about you, but I love a good bacon burger. However, I always struggle with the bacon sliding around on the bun, or falling apart before I’ve even finished it. And so, these bacon bomb burgers were born! I love that the cooked bacon is mixed right in with the burger, so you get deep pockets of that smoky goodness throughout, without the hassle of bacon strips.

As a busy mom, flexible recipes are key for me. The one’s that can be versatile based on the ingredients I have at home, rather than having to buy special ingredients for one meal. What could be more versatile than burgers? Add your favorite spices, meat, and throw it on the Blackstone, grill, or stove-top, and finish with your favorite toppings! A quick, easy, and budget friendly meal that the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Bacon Bits: I love playing around with the types of bacon that I use in these burgers. In this recipe, I use my own bacon bits rather than store brand because I like the crispy-ness of fresh bacon bits. I highly recommend making your own, it takes just a few extra minutes but is well worth it! You can use any flavor of bacon (for a sweet and savory twist, try adding maple bacon!) and any thickness, but I prefer thick-cut bacon as it gives a better crunch.

Ground Beef: I use 80/20 ground beef in this recipe, but you can use any ground meat variation that you prefer, just alter cooking times to match.

Garlic: Garlic helps to cut through the richness in these burgers, and adds a brightness to the flavor profile.

Shallots: I prefer to use shallots rather than onions because they’re milder and don’t over-power the other flavors in the burger. It also compliments the flavors of the onion soup mix without making it too onion-forward.

Worcestershire: Worcestershire brings an umami flavor punch to the dish, and helps to bind the ingredients together.

Lipton Onion Soup & Dip Mix: This is my go-to seasoning blend for my burgers because it’s cheap, easy, and pumps up the rich and savory flavors throughout.

Seasonings: I only add black pepper and a pinch of garlic powder because you truly don’t need much on top of the soup mix. Also be mindful of sodium content, as the bacon, onion soup mix and worcestershire sauce contain high sodium as it is.

Directions

Step 1: Heat up a medium saucepan on high heat. Roughly chop your uncooked bacon (about 8-10 slices or more if preferred), and transfer to the heated saucepan. Allow to cook for 5-6 minutes, or until crispy. Once cooked, use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked bacon to a paper-towel lined plate and set aside to cool for at least 15 minutes.

Step 2: While bacon is cooling, prep and mince garlic and shallots. Then, to a large bowl, add all ingredients; ground beef, cooked bacon, garlic, shallots, seasonings, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix by hand or with a wooden spoon until ingredients are fully incorporated.

Step 3: Once meat mixture is fully combined, use hands or a patty press to shape and form the burgers. My family prefers thicker burgers, and this allows for 6 thick burgers, but you can make them as big or small as you’d like. Just adjust cooking time based on size.

Step 4: I like using my Blackstone Griddle to cook these, but you can cook them on any heat source that you prefer; grill, stovetop, etc. Warm up your heat source on high heat and evenly place your burgers for optimal heat distribution. Cook each side for roughly 5-7 minutes, or until preferred internal temp is reached:

Medium-Rare: 130–135°F (not recommended for ground beef)
Medium: 140–145°F (riskier for food safety)
Medium-Well: 150–155°F
Well-Done: 160°F and above (recommended)

Step 5: Top with your favorite burger toppings and enjoy!
